Poverty and Immigration - Brandi & Bridget

In 2013 there were 11 million unauthorized immigrants in the United Sates (Giovagnoli). Many immigrants coming to the United States initially end up in poverty due to a lack of education or work skills. However as they become more accustomed to the US, they may move out of poverty (Iceland, 86). We will discuss possible relationships between immigration, discrimination and poverty. We will also examine the new NYC ID cards and what they are doing to help both immigrants and people who are homeless.
